Dewey is a gentle, loving boy who wants closeness, reassurance, and a person he can trust. He had a rough start to life, abandoned by his previous family and left to survive on his own. Thankfully, a kind samaritan found him and brought him to safety. Dewey spent a long time in foster care and then at the shelter, but he's now safe in rescue and learning to trust again. He can still be a bit nervous, but beneath that lies a sweet soul with so much love to give. Dewey has a lot of great qualities, including that he loves the people he knows, has yet to meet a dog he doesn't like, and thrives with the companionship of a confident dog. He's also affectionate, enjoys being close to his people, and is learning to enjoy life outside of a kennel.
Ideal Home
Dewey would thrive in a quieter, loving home with people who understand that the best things take time. A stable, social dog companion would be a wonderful bonus, and his people should be ready to celebrate every small victory along the way.
Ongoing Health
Dewey is a senior stray and has been through a lot. He is decompressing and learning to trust again.
Training & Support
Dewey needs a patient, compassionate family willing to let him settle in at his own pace. A calm home with consistent routines and gentle guidance, along with continued confidence-building experiences outside the kennel, plenty of reassurance and affection will help him succeed. Ideally, a confident and friendly resident dog will help show him the ropes.
