A little about them
Meet Vera, affectionately called Vivi in her foster home. This tiny Pug puppy was found alone on a walking trail in the RGV at approximately 6 weeks old and just one pound. After enduring severe malnutrition and multiple medical challenges, she is now receiving warmth, good food, medical care, and abundant love in Houston.
Vivi is slowly healing and remains a determined little fighter. With time, patience, continued medical care, and lots of love, her caregivers hope she will grow into a happy, healthy, playful puppy.
Ongoing Health
Vivi arrived with worms, anemia, severe constipation requiring several enemas, limited vision, deep corneal ulcers in both eyes, hair loss, and difficulty regulating her body temperature. She spends time on a puppy heating pad to stay warm. Her throat also briefly collapses at times, causing short periods of breathing difficulty; her doctor believes she may grow out of this as she gets bigger.
Training & Support
Vivi is receiving excellent care at SLPH and support from her foster family. She needs time, patience, medical care, warmth, and lots of love while she continues to heal.
