Yogi is a charming 3-year-old Chihuahua, weighing around 11 pounds, who is overflowing with loyalty and affection. He was adopted from a shelter in the USA and recently relocated to Ontario to be closer to his elderly owner. Sadly, due to his owner's move into an assisted living facility, Yogi has found himself looking for a new loving home. He is a truly good boy who is friendly and sweet to everyone he meets, ready to offer 12 pounds of pure love.
Ideal Home
Yogi would thrive in a home where someone is present most of the time or can bring him to work. While he's okay with visiting children, a home without kids might be more his speed, as he's accustomed to quiet companionship. He has shown a tendency to chase cats, so a feline-free environment is best. Ideally, Yogi would be the sole focus of attention, but a home with a resident dog could be considered if there are two adults to provide equal lap space. He doesn't enjoy being left alone for extended periods, as his greatest joy comes from showering his human with love.
Ongoing Health
Yogi received a thorough veterinary examination upon arrival and is up-to-date on all medical care, including a dental cleaning. He has a long lifespan of up to 20 years, and adopters must be prepared to provide a loving home for his entire life.
Training & Support
Yogi is still learning to signal when he needs to go outside and is currently using a belly band indoors. With consistent positive reinforcement and frequent potty breaks, he is likely to overcome this, as it may be a result of missed potty training in his previous home. He enjoys chasing other dogs but doesn't seem to engage with toys. He has excellent recall and good leash manners. He eats his meals in his crate and shows great patience when humans are eating. His crate is his sanctuary, where he sleeps soundly through the night.
