Trix is a 8-month-old, 35-pound, spayed female Pitbull mix with the sweetest, smartest soul. She was surrendered to a shelter in Houston with her brother and was the more shut-down of the two. While her brother has found his forever home, Trix needed extra time in foster care to build confidence. Trix was significantly undersocialized early in life, and her baseline is fear of humans. She has never shown any reactivity, and when unsure, she simply looks for a safe place to hide. She is gentle, quiet, and incredibly observant, picking things up quickly. With patience and intentional time spent building trust, she grows more comfortable and will eventually play with toys, run and sunbathe with other dogs, and even cuddle with her humans.
Ideal Home
Trix will need a home where someone is around more often than not, as she is still a puppy and building trust takes time and consistency. She is not a ready-made confident dog and requires patience, compassion, and commitment. She would likely thrive with a confident canine companion to follow and learn from, though adopters without another dog should have a thoughtful plan for socialization and confidence building.
Ongoing Health
No specific health conditions are mentioned, but she is described as a puppy who is still growing.
Training & Support
Trix is housebroken, loves her crate, and is learning to walk on a leash. She has been around kids and is shy at first. Adopters should be prepared to invest time and patience in building her trust and helping her gain confidence in new situations.
