Bean

Hello, my name is Bean! I'm a sweet, handsome puppy with a pouty face, expressive eyes, and eyebrows that make me quite the character. My big paws sometimes make me a bit clumsy, and I'm known for being silly, quirky, and making lots of faces! I'm playful, attentive, and love to be the center of attention. You'll often find me collecting my toys in my bed and proudly parading them around. I always want to be near my human and check in frequently, sometimes even falling asleep sitting up because I just can't bear to miss out on the action! I came up from Texas with my brother, and I'm mostly potty trained, though I can have accidents when I get carried away in play mode. I sleep soundly in my kennel all night in my foster parents' room, but I do protest a little when put in my kennel during the day before settling down. I know "sit" and love to show off this trick! I'm learning to walk on a leash, which I enjoy, but sometimes my stubborn side surfaces, and I'd rather play inside or in the yard. I'm also working on "leave it" and distinguishing between toys and non-toys. I'm a smart cookie and would do well in a training or obedience course once I'm a bit older and more confident with new sights and smells. I absolutely love treats and food, but I also cherish attention from my humans, and it doesn't take much to get me to focus. I interact well with pre-teen neighbors and warm up quickly to new friends, though I always check in with my foster parents. I live with three cats and try to play with them like I would with another puppy, but I stop when reminded they are cats. For the most part, I don't pay them much attention and have shown no prey drive issues. While I'm not currently living with another dog, I'm generally submissive and can be a bit talkative when I want more attention. I meet other dogs on walks and at restaurants, where I'm happy to say hello or mind my own business. I also coexist peacefully with a large Rottweiler next door. I would be a good dog for a first-time puppy owner because I'm eager to learn and want to be included in everything. I'm highly trainable and capable of going anywhere with guidance. My dream day includes waking up, potty, a big breakfast, play sessions, naps on the couch, lunch, another play session, a walk, dinner, hanging out with my family, and falling asleep watching TV. I'm teething and enjoy chewing on toys, especially stuffies and bones. I also love a good game of tug-of-war. I enjoy a mix of play and cuddles, with bursts of energy followed by long naps. Being let out of my crate in the morning makes my tail wag the hardest! Ideally, I'd love a family with at least one person who has ample time to give me attention and love, whether at home or out and about. I like being busy and then napping near my human. A canine playmate would be wonderful to help me expend my energy.

Ideal Home

A family with at least one person who has time to give me lots of attention and love, either at home or out and about. I like being busy in the house and yard and then taking naps near my human. I would love a best friend to spend most of the day with. I think another dog would be a good way to get my play energy out.

Training & Support

I am mostly potty trained, but sometimes when I'm in play mode I forget to ask to go out and have an accident. I am learning how to walk on the leash and am also learning "leave it" and the difference between toys and non-toys. I would do well in a training or obedience course, but maybe in a few months when I'm a little older and more confident around new sights and smells. I can protest a little when put in my kennel during the day but settle after a few minutes.
