Shadow is a 2-year-old, 40 lb, neutered male Terrier/Border Collie mix who is ready to find his forever family! He was originally found in a rural orchard with a group of other dumped dogs, and it took some time and patience to gain his trust. Shadow eventually found a loving home and lived there for 8 months, but unfortunately, his family had to surrender him back to us due to housing restrictions. He can be a bit shy upon first meeting, but once he trusts you, he becomes your devoted shadow, always wanting to be by your side and snuggle up wherever you are. He's incredibly smart and thrives with mental stimulation, making him a perfect candidate for scent training or agility!
Ideal Home
Shadow would do best with an experienced owner who can provide consistent leadership and dedicate time to his training and mental enrichment. A securely fenced yard of at least 6 feet is a must, as he can jump! He's a bit skittish around young children but does well with dog-confident children ages 10 and over. He absolutely cannot live in a home with cats or other small critters due to his strong prey drive. While he can be a wonderful companion, he's looking for a home that understands his needs and can help him shine.
Ongoing Health
Shadow's adoption fee includes his bloodwork (heartworm and tick-borne disease tests were negative), neuter, vaccinations (DA2PP, rabies, Bordetella), and microchip.
Training & Support
Shadow is very food motivated and would excel in activities like agility or scent training. He does well on a leash when engaged in training exercises but can pull if left to his own devices. He needs an owner committed to reinforcing good leash manners. Shadow's adoption fee includes two meetings with a trainer to help ensure a successful transition.
