Jason is a smart and fun-loving boy who is eager to please his person! This intelligent 64 lb companion is a natural athlete, easily mastering agility courses and other skills. Jason loves to make eye contact and connect emotionally with his handler, making him a truly devoted friend. He enjoys playing with other dogs but prefers to be the dominant one. While he's generally good with other dogs, his strength means he should be closely monitored during introductions to ensure compatibility. Jason is a fantastic hiking buddy, comfortable both on and off-leash, and he'll always check back in with you. He also adores car rides! A volunteer who has spent many hours with him notes, "I LOVE this guy! He looks up to me for direction and guidance and I know he wants to do the right thing but has likely had very little people companionship and direction in his life up until now. The right person will be lucky to have this boy in their life. If his adopter continues his leash and obedience training and allows for plenty of exercise, they will be rewarded with a loyal and wonderful friend." Jason excelled in his Dog School Training, impressing his trainer who described him as a "sports dog by nature" who thrives on challenges. He loves playing with balls, agility circuits, and is responsive to game-based training. He's obedient, task-focused, affectionate, and protective when shown love. Jason currently lives harmoniously with a larger pittie in his foster home and knows basic commands like sit, down, off, wait, heel, and come. He has no observed separation anxiety.

Cortez Rescue recommends Jason be adopted by an experienced dog handler who can effectively continue his training and support him navigating through the world.

Jason will receive a full medical assessment before leaving Cortez Rescue to ensure he remains in optimum health.
Training & Support
Jason has completed his Dog School Training and knows basic leash skills and obedience commands. Continued leash and obedience training, along with plenty of exercise, will be key to his continued success.
