What would a life with Oliver look like?
Considering adopting Oliver is a commitment to such a deserving boy who, despite his past, refuses to let that stop him. It's also a commitment to yourself to meet him where he is at and watch him grow. This gremlin is brave, eager to please, goofy, soulful, stubborn, smart, and such a joyful presence to have around.
A day in the life of Oliver might include waking up around 5-8 am with his foster siblings, giving kisses, wiggling his butt, making gremlin noises, and bed wrestling. He'll head outside to potty, play, and patiently wait for breakfast, which he enjoys from a slow feeder. After breakfast, he'll go outside again before his foster mom leaves for work and then settle into his kennel for a chew. Weekdays from 8 am to 4:30 pm are for hard chill time while his foster mom works. After 4:30 pm, it's time for excited greetings, more gremlin noises, and an immediate trip outside to potty before dinner. Evenings are for training exercises for 15-20 minutes, where Oliver loves to work on commands like sit, free, place, catch, leave it, look, find it, and touch. He's also building confidence and learning how to play with humans, though he's already an expert at playing with other dogs! On weekends, Oliver enjoys participating in yard work, sunbathing, playing with his dog friends, going on walks (though getting him leashed and into a car is still a work in progress), playing with toys, chewing on bones, and trying new enrichment activities.
Ideal Home
Oliver thrives with a playful canine companion, so another dog in the home is a must. He needs someone who can see through his quirks and into the soul of a dog who continues to show up and try.
Ongoing Health
No specific health conditions are mentioned in the listing.
Training & Support
Oliver is working on several training exercises and absolutely loves it! He needs a home willing to continue his training, and his foster will ensure you have everything you need. He is still working on trusting touch due to his past experiences. While he has made strides, he may never be comfortable with petting, and his new family must be okay with this. He prefers treats from humans over petting. He also needs assistance getting into the car and having his harness, collar, and leash put on, which is currently done in his kennel. His new home must be prepared to advocate for him, understanding that he doesn't want to be reached for and preferring that people offer treats instead of reaching out to pet him.
