About Kash with a K
Meet Kash with a K!
Kash’s journey began with immense hardship. When he was rescued from a shelter in north Alabama, he was severely emaciated and suffering from a knee injury, likely sustained from being hit by a car. The initial veterinary care at the shelter revealed a complex surgical wound, severe bone infection, and a leg that was a significant, gangrenous open wound. For two months, Kash underwent intensive treatment with strong antibiotics and wore a special cone setup to prevent him from licking his leg. Despite the discomfort and medical challenges, Kash never lost his love for people and continued to wag his tail. After months of dedicated healing, Kash is now ready to move past his medical struggles and embrace life as someone's loving best friend.
At approximately two years old, Kash is a delightful mix of athlete, comedian, and affectionate companion. He greets everyone with enthusiasm and believes that all humans exist to give him pets. Kash is wonderfully social with other dogs and thrives in their company. He is what we affectionately call "a dog's dog," enjoying playful wrestling, zoomies, and energetic games with his canine pals. Due to his robust play style, he would do best in a home with another large, playful dog, ideally a Great Dane, who can match his boundless energy. Kash currently lives harmoniously with three other Danes in his foster home and has also attended dog meetups, demonstrating his friendly and well-behaved demeanor. He has had positive interactions with children, but because of his size and occasional exuberance, a home with Dane-savvy children would be ideal to prevent accidental bumps. Kash is house-trained and adores companionship. He is accustomed to spending time in an indoor walk-in kennel when his foster dad works long hours, but his comfort with a traditional crate is still to be determined. Kash deserves a family who sees his joyful, resilient spirit beyond his past medical challenges. While his knee may have a lasting reminder of his ordeal and a slight hitch in his gait, it doesn't slow him down one bit.
Ideal Home
Kash would thrive in a home with another playful large breed dog, ideally a Great Dane, to match his energetic play style. He has interacted well with children and would likely do well in a home with Dane-savvy kids, but potential adopters should be aware that Kash can occasionally forget his size and might accidentally bump into smaller children during excited greetings. A securely fenced yard is required.
Ongoing Health
Kash has undergone extensive treatment for a severe leg injury and infection. While he has healed significantly, his knee may always appear a bit rough and he may have a slight hitch in his step. He is neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped.
Training & Support
Kash is potty trained and enjoys companionship. He is accustomed to an indoor walk-in kennel setup when left alone for extended periods.
