Monika is a sweet, approximately one-year-old female Labrador mix weighing around 26 pounds. She was rescued in March 2024 from the streets of Saltillo, Mexico, along with her mother and siblings. Initially shy and fearful, Monika has blossomed with love and patience, showing a playful, funny, and food-motivated personality. She is crate trained and is doing well socializing with other dogs and people. Monika is noble and submissive, but she is still a little shy, reserved, and cautious, needing a patient and loving home to help her fully trust her humans.
Ideal Home
Monika would thrive in an active home with a family willing to give her at least three months to show her true personality. A fenced backyard is a must, and her ideal family will enjoy daily walks or hiking. Experience with dog behavior and training is highly recommended, as is a high level of tolerance and patience for a rescued pup.
Ongoing Health
Monika has a comprehensive health protocol completed, including spay/neuter, DHPPI and rabies vaccines, Bordetella vaccine, deworming, a 4DX test, a negative heartworm test, and a monthly Nexgard Spectra preventive for fleas, ticks, and heartworm. She also has a health certificate and vaccine booklet.
Training & Support
Monika is not yet house-trained. Her foster family notes that while they invest heavily in the medical and emotional rehabilitation of their rescued animals, they are unable to provide dedicated house training for each pet due to the number of animals in their care. Her new family should be prepared to continue her training with patience and consistency.
