Sweet boy Reese has been on quite the journey since arriving with us. At 1 year old, Reese came to us with next to no training or manners, but has since earned "good boy status", with help from his foster momma. Reese is house and crate trained. He is good with people, but is a VERY bouncy and uncoordinated boy. He is a medium-high energy dog and would benefit from an active family who is looking for a dog that would enjoy daily activities such as (but of course not limited to) training, running, fetch and tug. He is not a rude boy, but will need guidance for how to be polite and gentle and not jump, which he is still working on with his foster mom's guidance. Reese enjoys playing fetch and has a solid “out” command, which makes it easy to drain his energy! He is happy to entertain himself in the yard as long as there is a ball or a bone around. Inside, he is practicing his place command, which is getting better each day, but he still struggles when his humans are moving around and he is expected to stay on place. When we took him in from a kill shelter, we received a note from his previous person that went over a few key struggles that they had with him, the main one being his manners. After lots of work we are happy to report that this smart boy has made immense progress and has blossomed into a super fun and loving dog. On leash, he still can become overstimulated in busy areas but has the basics and loose leash walking down super well. He still struggles when passing other dogs on his walks and can become reactive, but we are confident that this will decrease with time. Reese is basically a giant puppy who is eager to learn and will do best with a family who is interested in training to bring out the best version of Reese.
Ideal Home
Reese is looking for an active home with adults only. He is dog social with proper introductions and supervision. He is also good with kids 12+.
Ongoing Health
Reese has an occasional hind end limp. Diagnostics have been done and it does not affect his daily exercise.
Training & Support
Reese is e-collar trained and has made immense progress with leash reactivity and overstimulation. He still struggles with jumping and the place command when humans are moving. He will need continued patience and support with training to help him grow into his best self.
