Maximus

Meet Maximus, a sweet and dignified 5-year-old Labradoodle looking for a foster or forever home. He weighs 80 pounds and is slightly overweight. Recently surrendered after his owner moved to help her mother, Maximus is currently staying in boarding while he waits for a foster placement.

Maximus is affectionate, calm, and well-behaved. He is not especially playful but may have occasional zoomies, and he settles quickly. He loves treats, knows sit and lay down, and listened well when asked to wait and stay at the door. He can jump straight up and sometimes place his paws on people, but he is otherwise aware of his size and not pushy through doorways. He jumped happily into the car and did not pull on a short leash walk.

Ideal Home

Maximus seemed to do well with cats and dogs while at the office, though he needs further supervision and testing. He also did well meeting women, men, and children. He is quiet and well-behaved in his kennel.

Ongoing Health

Maximus is microchipped, neutered, and tested negative for heartworm and Lyme disease. He is up to date on preventative care but needs one more vaccine and a second deworming in three weeks. He currently has an ear infection that is being treated and will likely need regular ear-hair plucking, cleanings, treatments, and checkups. He also has licking staining around his rectum and feet, thinning hair, and hyperpigmentation on his back. Environmental allergies or Color Dilution Alopecia are being considered, but further monitoring is needed. His bloodwork was completely normal.

Training & Support

Maximus knows sit, lay down, wait, and stay. He is affectionate, smart, and gentle, and he did well on a short leash walk.
