Annie

Annie is a sweet, spunky 3-4 month old Shih Tzu and poodle mix pup weighing 7 lbs. She's estimated to be around 20 lbs when fully grown. Annie is affectionate and loving, always eager to shower her humans with adoration. She's a natural explorer, curious about new things and people, and confidently investigates her surroundings. Annie is a social butterfly who loves meeting new friends, both human and canine. Her adaptable and laid-back nature makes her a perfect companion for an active family who enjoys including their furry friend in everyday adventures, or for a family seeking a calm pup for cozy evenings at home. As long as she's with her people, Annie is content and ready for anything! She's happy playing with other dogs, cuddling with her foster mom, or entertaining herself with toys in the yard. Annie strikes a wonderful balance between playful puppy energy and relaxed cuddle bug vibes.

Ideal Home

Annie would thrive in a home where she can be a central part of the family's life, receiving plenty of love, exercise, and attention. A fenced yard would be ideal for her to play and explore. She would love a home with another playful, friendly dog and children to play and cuddle with, but she'd also be happy as the sole focus of affection. She enjoys outings around town and visiting Sniff Spots for enrichment. A home where someone works from home or has a hybrid schedule is ideal, as she cannot be left alone for more than 8 hours without playtime and potty breaks. A dog sitter or doggy daycare would be beneficial for longer workdays. Annie should not go to public dog parks due to the risk of illness or negative interactions. She would do best with older children experienced with smaller breeds who know how to handle her carefully, as she can be wiggly when excited and picked up. Given she is teething, supervision is needed to prevent her from chewing on toys meant for children. She is also good with cats that are comfortable around dogs and have prior experience with them, as she is playful and will want to engage them.

Ongoing Health

Annie is up-to-date on all age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipped, and current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention. She has had a health certificate from a licensed veterinarian and any necessary vet care while in rescue.

Training & Support

Annie is kennel trained and potty trained, alerting her foster family when she needs to go outside by circling the back door. The use of a doggy doorbell is recommended to help her learn this skill. She needs a consistent schedule and frequent potty breaks initially in a new environment, but she adjusts quickly. She has started leash training and will need additional practice to perfect her skills. She has learned proper doggy communication skills and respects boundaries with the older dogs in her foster home, but may be too energetic for a senior dog unaccustomed to puppy play. Her humans will need to watch her as she is starting to teeth and may chew on inappropriate items.

Transportation

Annie is currently in a foster home and can be transported to various cities and states. Transportations occur monthly, and adoptive families will meet the transport to pick up their new family member. Please note that dogs are adopted to their forever families prior to transport, and meet-and-greets cannot be accommodated due to transport distances.
