Balto appeared one day right in front of our shelter, lying on the roadside as if waiting for someone to notice him. He was painfully thin, weak, and looked as though he had been hit by a car. When we found him, he couldn’t even walk due to the pain, so we carried him to safety. At the vet, thankfully, no fractures were found, but he was severely underweight, anemic, and full of fear. He seemed to have given up hope. However, with time, patience, and lots of love, Balto began to eat, gain weight, and trust again. Today, he is healthy, vibrant, and full of life. Balto is a handsome Siberian Husky/Alaskan Malamute mix with an energetic, playful, and incredibly social personality. He's a very funny dog who will always make you smile with his antics. He is the stereotypical Husky – very vocal, makes constant little noises, and loves to "talk." He will howl to get your attention with his "wolf song," making him ideal for someone seeking a communicative companion. You may notice he has a slightly strange or "crooked" gait; however, this is purely aesthetic. It does not hinder him at all from running, jumping, or playing with the tireless energy characteristic of his breed. He gets along excellently with other dogs, is very friendly, and enjoys the company of both humans and other canines. Balto has reached his ideal weight, is strong, neutered, and very active.
Ideal Home
Balto would thrive in a home that appreciates his energetic and vocal nature. Someone who enjoys a communicative companion and is prepared for the unique vocalizations and activities of a husky breed would be ideal.
Ongoing Health
Balto is healthy, vibrant, and full of life. His slightly strange or "crooked" gait is purely aesthetic and does not hinder his physical capabilities. He is neutered and up-to-date on all vaccines.
Training & Support
Balto is a very social dog with other canines and humans. As a typical husky, he is very vocal and enjoys "talking" and howling. Owners should be prepared for and appreciate his communicative nature.

- The total donation for adoption is 250 USD. This includes a minimum donation of 200 USD to cover rescue and rehabilitation costs, plus an additional 50 USD for transportation for the border crossing (paid directly to the transporter).
