Crunchy is a medium-sized dog, around 50 lbs, and a true sweetheart with a heart of gold. He was returned to the Milo Sanctuary after his adopters took him home as a puppy. While he previously struggled with behavioral quirks and high energy, he has made great progress in the sanctuary environment. He's now housed with other dogs and does wonderfully, showing himself to be a gentleman and a sweetheart. Crunchy loves cuddling, practicing his many tricks, and going for long walks in the park. He is generally very well-behaved, house-trained, and was recently found to be in excellent health after a full checkup.
Ideal Home
Crunchy needs an experienced dog owner or couple who can provide him with continued training and a stable, nurturing environment. He thrives in a peaceful, low-key, and less urban setting where he has more freedom. A home with a yard would be ideal. He would do best as the only pet in the home and needs a household without children, as he can become jealous and possessive of his people, territory, and toys. He does not do well in large groups of people and experiences some mild separation anxiety. Fireworks can be particularly frightening for him.

Training & Support
Crunchy is an intelligent and eager learner who benefits from consistency and training. He was well-trained before arriving at the sanctuary and enjoys continuing to practice his skills. He walks well on a leash, often using a Gentle Leader, and is learning to stop and sit at busy corners. While he has made progress with reactions to cats, mailmen, and larger dogs, these are areas that will require ongoing management and training. He can sometimes be mischievously defiant when called off-leash, particularly when he's been cooped up, but this is likely trainable with more time and patience. He enjoys chew toys and a nightly chew treat to help him relax.
