Prince is a magnificent 3-year-old Great Pyrenees, tipping the scales at a very impressive 130 pounds. He's the quintessential Pyr, always aware of his surroundings and taking his role as neighborhood security very seriously. While he may not have actual sheep to guard, he considers it his duty to alert his people to the Amazon driver, that sneaky squirrel, or the neighbor out for a walk. He’s a wonderful companion who is also respectful of people he doesn't know. Prince loves to play, and like many large working breeds, his bursts of energy are dramatic and brief – think 30-second sprints followed by a full-body collapse. He is selectively deaf, hearing only what aligns with his priorities, and he's not trying to be an obedience champion. Prince is an independent, thoughtful dog who is very comfortable making his own decisions. He does shed and he barks when he sees things – he embodies all the classic traits of a Great Pyrenees! Be aware that if you tell him he's been bad, he will sulk and take it personally.
Ideal Home
Prince needs adopters who truly understand and appreciate the Great Pyrenees breed and all its unique quirks. A securely fenced yard is a must, as he is completely untrustworthy off-leash. He would do best in a home with teenagers and older children.
Ongoing Health
No specific health concerns are mentioned, but it's important to remember he is a large breed.
Training & Support
Prince is perfectly housebroken and extremely well-mannered in the home. He is independent and makes his own decisions, so patience and understanding of his breed will be key to a successful partnership.
