Teresa is a loving, gentle, and intelligent Labrador mix who is approximately 4 years old and weighs around 42 lbs. She has been patiently waiting for a family to call her own. Teresa is sociable and enjoys human company, not being aggressive or uncomfortable around strangers. While she might seem a bit shy at first due to fear of rejection, once she feels safe, her affectionate, playful, and loving personality truly shines. She adores being petted and will happily seek out cuddles. Teresa gets along well with dogs, children, men, and women, and has shown no reaction to cats in cages. She's a calm, balanced, and respectful dog who prefers peace. She walks on leash with guidance and can be crated for transport, settling down after initial nervousness. Teresa's name comes from the neighborhood where she was found cruelly tied to a tree with a wire, severely injured and covered in ticks. Despite her past trauma, she has healed beautifully, leaving only a scar that doesn't affect her sweet spirit. She is a wonderful, obedient, affectionate, and smart dog who deserves a loving home.
Ideal Home
Teresa would thrive in a home with a fenced backyard and an active family that enjoys outdoor activities. She needs a family with a genuine intention to rescue and who understands the needs of street animals, requiring protection and education. Experience with dog behavior and training, or a willingness to hire a trainer, is essential. High tolerance and patience for rescued puppies are also very important, as she is not house-trained.
Ongoing Health
Teresa has been spayed/neutered and received DHPPI and Rabies vaccinations, Bordetella vaccine, and deworming. She is microchipped and tested negative for heartworm. She receives monthly preventive protection against fleas, ticks, and heartworm. A health certificate and vaccine booklet are available. She has a scar on her neck from a past injury, but it does not affect her health or spirit.
Training & Support
Teresa is not fully house-trained and will require patience and consistent training. She walks on leash with guidance and can be transported in a crate. Her adopters should be prepared to invest time and effort in her training and rehabilitation, understanding that rescued dogs may need an adjustment period.
