Meet Ketchup! This sweet, medium-sized girl has a big heart and is ready to find her forever home. Ketchup is a quiet companion who rarely barks, lights up when she sees her people, and absolutely adores kids. She was surrendered due to no fault of her own when her owner had to move, and she's been blossoming in her foster home ever since. She's playful, affectionate, and smart, and when she trusts you, she becomes your gentle shadow and world-class kisser.
Ideal Home
Ketchup would thrive as the only dog in the home, as she can be reactive on walks when seeing other dogs and needs distance to feel safe. She also has a strong prey drive for squirrels and rabbits, meaning she can pull hard on leash. She needs a confident, steady adult handler who can manage her strength and help her stay focused. Ketchup would also really love a fenced yard to enjoy with her people! She would do best with older children (8+) as younger kiddos can make her a bit nervous. She may also do well with a dog-savvy cat after proper introductions.
Ongoing Health
Ketchup is spayed or neutered, heartworm tested, dewormed, up-to-date on prevention medications, up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccines, and microchipped.
Training & Support
Ketchup is fully potty trained and has had zero accidents in her foster home. She sleeps through the night (couch, bed, or crate with a steady routine) and is excellent inside the home, able to be left uncrated without issues. She knows "sit" and "lay down" and is learning new tricks. She loves fetch, walks, treats, and catching Cheerios mid-air! Ketchup is kennel trained in the sense that she can sleep through the night and stay crated when needed, but she strongly dislikes going into the crate. She needs slow, positive guidance to enter it, and rushing the process can cause her to escalate. A patient adopter willing to continue positive-association training will help her feel safer and more confident.
