Meet Ernie, a charming 8-year-old Pittie/Cattle Dog mix who weighs around 63lbs. He was found wandering near a busy street and, despite being microchipped, his previous owner chose not to reclaim him. Ernie is a true gem, having been adopted from a county shelter in 2020 and showing no signs of heartworm. He's a happy-go-lucky older gentleman who enjoys a good walk or playdate, and he adores being wherever his people are.
Ideal Home
Ernie is a social butterfly who gets along wonderfully with all the humans and animals he's met. He gets excited when he sees other dogs, wagging his tail and hoping for a friendly hello. He's a gentle playmate who goes with the flow, even letting his smaller foster sibling boss him around. While he hasn't formally met a cat, he shows only mild, non-aggressive interest from a distance, suggesting he might do well in a home with feline friends who don't mind a curious canine companion. Ernie hasn't been around children, but given his gentle nature, his foster believes he would enjoy a home with them, provided they understand he's a larger dog.
Ongoing Health
Ernie is a healthy boy with no known ongoing health concerns.
Training & Support
Ernie is house-trained and walks beautifully on a leash. He's not a fan of crates and will attempt to escape, but thankfully, he doesn't get destructive when left alone. If he knows you're home and he's in his crate, he might whine or howl for a few minutes, but he can be easily soothed with a treat or some verbal reassurance.
