Dagger

Dagger is a 6.5-month-old spayed female Retriever/Pit Bull mix who currently weighs 40 pounds and is expected to be a large dog when fully grown. Named for the sharp little white triangle on her neck, Dagger is a fearless lady with a heart full of cuddles. She was rescued with her mother and littermates from a rural dumping area outside of Houston. Dagger has the best of both worlds as an older puppy, with plenty of playful energy but beginning to settle into a wonderful companion. She is potty trained and continues to grow into a confident, affectionate, and well-rounded dog. Dagger is an equal parts athlete and cuddle bug, who loves to leap, climb, and test the limits of any enclosure, but her favorite place is curled up in her person's lap. She approaches life with curiosity and confidence and is the social butterfly of her litter, always looking for more fun. Dagger is playful, loving, mischievous, and incredibly affectionate. She is friendly with strangers, enjoys playing with other dogs, and has been around children and done well.

Ideal Home

Dagger would thrive in a home that is committed to reinforcing good manners, building her confidence, and helping her continue to mature into an exceptional adult dog. Because she is still very much an adolescent, we prefer homes where someone isn't routinely away for more than four to six hours at a time. We also prefer homes that already have another friendly, well-mannered dog to help mentor and guide Dagger, but we understand if you don't currently have a dog and would love to hear your plan for continued socialization.

Training & Support

Dagger continues to learn about the world and will benefit from ongoing positive reinforcement, consistency, and continued leash practice. Socialization is important for her to build lifelong confidence.

• We are a volunteer-run rescue and dedicate our time to these dogs. If you are not serious about moving forward in our adoption process, please do not apply.
• If someone other than yourself is part of the decision-making process, please ensure you have spoken with them and they are on board.
• Our process starts with an application. If we think you might be a good fit, we will reach out to coordinate a phone interview.
• This is followed by a video call with the foster home.
• Virtual home visit, personal and vet reference checks are required to complete the process.

Transporation

Dagger is currently being fostered in Houston, Texas. Transport to an approved adopter is available and included in the adoption donation.
