Meet Onyx, a sweet 7-year-old Chi Dachshund mix who weighs around 20lbs. This charming girl has a calm, gentle spirit and a personality that will make you smile every day. Onyx was rescued from the euthanasia list at an overcrowded shelter in Houston and has been showing everyone just how special she is since then. She’s spayed, vaccinated, and up to date on all her preventatives, making her ready to find the loving home she deserves.
Ideal Home
Onyx would do best in a semi-active to low-activity household where she can enjoy short walks and plenty of relaxing time. She enjoys being close to her people but prefers to sit beside you rather than on top of you. She has done well with respectful kids ages 7-12 and would do best with older, dog-savvy children.
Ongoing Health
Onyx is an older gal with a bit of arthritis, so she enjoys a slower pace.
Training & Support
Onyx is house-broken, sleeps in her crate at night by choice, and can be crated up to 10 hours if needed. She doesn’t resource guard, shows no food aggression, and can be trusted to free-roam the house without being destructive. She can get a little excited on leash when greeting new dog friends.

Transporation
Onyx is currently being fostered in San Antonio. She can transport out of state to the right approved adopter. Transports run every few weeks and she will be on the next available transport once approved.
