About Micaela
Micaela arrived at the shelter not with a wagging tail or bright eyes, but in pain—quiet, hurting, and trying her best to be brave. At only about 2 years old, this young husky had already endured more suffering than most dogs face in a lifetime. She was found in a high-kill shelter in Texas, where her severe injuries and silent agony nearly cost her life. A veterinary exam revealed what her gentle spirit had been hiding: a fractured jaw, significant misalignment, and bleeding gums. Every attempt to eat, drink, or simply rest caused her pain. Without urgent medical care, her future looked heartbreakingly grim.
Hoardin' Huskies stepped in just in time, rushing her to NVC in Nederland, TX. After a full evaluation, it was learned that her jaw fractures were very old, left untreated long enough to cause deep tissue infection and several dead teeth. Re-breaking and resetting her jaw wouldn’t help her now. What she needed was relief, through a full dental cleaning and removal of the damaged teeth. Micaela is also heartworm positive, but she has already begun slow-kill treatment, giving her a safe and steady path toward full recovery. The best news of all is that Micaela will be able to live a completely normal, pain-free life. Even now, as she begins her healing journey, her resilience is shining through. She leans into gentle touch, watches her caregivers with soft, grateful eyes, and is slowly and bravely learning that she is finally safe. It’s almost unbearable to imagine what she endured before help arrived. She survived pain, neglect, and fear. She survived a high-kill shelter where her injuries nearly cost her life. But she didn’t give up. And because of that, she now has a real chance at comfort, love, and the peaceful life she always deserved. Micaela is officially available for her forever home—a home where she will never again be overlooked, unheard, or in pain. A home where her gentle heart can finally rest. Micaela’s story is one of quiet strength, second chances, and the power of compassion. Her healing has begun, and her future is finally filled with hope.
