Keller

Keller is a 4-year-old pittie mix who was found as a stray and brought to ARC. He's a very happy and eager-to-please boy who loves adventures like hiking, car rides, and trips to the park! Keller is deaf, but he's a very intelligent dog who is learning to communicate with hand signs and leash cues. He's mastered "sit" and is making progress on "off," "wait," and "leave it." Keller does well with other dogs and is currently best friends with Hank. He's improving with harness training, though he can be easily distracted. Keller is treat-motivated, which has been a great asset in his training. He would benefit from working with a professional trainer or someone dedicated to consistent one-on-one training. Keller is looking for a patient, understanding, and resourceful person to help him thrive in his silent world.

Ideal Home

Keller would do best in a home with a dog of similar energy level and a relatively submissive nature. Due to his size and exuberance, a home with older children and no cats is recommended.

Ongoing Health

Keller is a healthy 4-year-old. He is deaf, which is a condition he was born with or acquired before coming to ARC.

Training & Support

Keller is not currently housetrained and will need dedicated house training and work on home manners. He is a quick learner and eager to please, responding well to positive reinforcement and treat motivation. Consistent, frequent one-on-one training is highly recommended, ideally from a professional trainer or an experienced individual.
