Duque

Duque is a handsome 4-year-old English Shepherd mix with a striking black and white coat and approximately 42 lbs of love to give! He's a friendly and affectionate boy who adapts quickly to new people and places. Duque enjoys being petted and spending quality time with his family. He absolutely loves going for walks and staying active, so an equally active family would be a perfect match!

Ideal Home

Duque would thrive in a home with an active family that enjoys outdoor activities. A securely fenced backyard is a must for his safety and enjoyment. He needs a family with a genuine intention to rescue and a deep understanding of the needs of rescued animals, including their potential need for protection and education. Experience with dog behavior and training is highly valued, or a commitment to hiring a professional trainer for this intelligent boy. Patience and a high tolerance for a rescued dog's adjustment period are essential.

Please be aware that rescued dogs may require an adjustment period due to past experiences. Patience and understanding are crucial as they build trust and adapt to their new environment.

Training & Support

While Duque is potty trained and leash trained, it's important to note that not all rescued pets are house-trained. This is a significant part of the rehabilitation process that we undertake. Owners should be prepared to provide consistent training and positive reinforcement.

Application Details:

• Applications start by contacting us through Wags.
• You will be asked to fill out an adoption form.
• Photos and videos of your home are required to ensure a safe environment for your future furry friend.
• If your application is a match, we will schedule a call or video chat to introduce you to the pet and conduct a virtual home tour.
• 1-2 references will be contacted.
• Upon approval, an adoption contract will be signed, and an adoption fee will be collected before your pet arrives.

Transportation

Duque is currently being fostered in Saltillo, Mexico, and is ready to travel on our next cross-country trip to the East Coast. We offer door-to-door delivery. Our transport process involves scheduled trips (3-4 per year with 15-20 adoptions per trip) managed by a partnered transport company. Pets will travel with all necessary legal documents, including a Transport Contract and a Health Certificate from the USDA. For US adoptions, pets will cross the border into Texas. For Canadian adoptions, they will be delivered to the nearest US-Canada border. A private Facebook Messenger group will be created for real-time updates during the journey. The transport fee is $400 USD.
