Laurel is a resilient and loving 2-year-old female Collie and Chihuahua mix, weighing around 20 pounds. She's a survivor, having overcome pneumonia and distemper. While she has a constant head tremor due to her distemper, it doesn't cause her pain and she doesn't require medication. Laurel is spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. She's good with other dogs, cats, kids, and all humans, but she does need time to warm up to new people, especially men. She's bravely learning to navigate the world, with familiar routines being her best friend. Crowds and strangers can still be a bit overwhelming for her, and she might need to be picked up if things get too busy. Laurel is a pee pad pro, and while outside potty training is a work in progress, she's reliable on her pads. When she's happy, she expresses it with joyful leaps! She's also become quite independent, handling solo time like a champ for up to 5 hours and happily snoozing in her own cat bed, though she still loves a good snuggle.
Ideal Home
Laurel would thrive in a calm and loving home with someone who will continue to gently introduce her to the world without rushing her. Patience and consistency are key to building her trust.
Ongoing Health
Laurel is a distemper survivor and experiences constant head tremors. These tremors are a lifelong condition but do not require medication and do not slow her down or cause her pain. She is spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped.
Training & Support
Laurel is a pee pad queen and is reliably potty trained on pads. Outside potty training is still a work in progress. She can sometimes bark at strangers from a car and may be nervous around unfamiliar men. She is working on her confidence with new people and situations.
