Gaia June is believed to be a Lab/Pittie mix, approximately 3 years old, and currently weighs 76 lbs. While we can't guarantee breed or age with rescues, we can guarantee this girl has one of the sweetest, gentlest souls we've ever met. Being around Gaia feels like getting a hug after a really long day.
Gaia is incredibly affectionate and absolutely loves her people. She can be a little shy with new people at first, but the second you start talking to her in a sweet voice, you can see her start to melt. Once she feels safe and loved, her affectionate side comes out naturally. She loves to lean into people for hugs and will stand there letting you hug her for as long as you need. Gaia has the comforting, calming presence people look for in a once-in-a-lifetime companion dog. She naturally makes your day better by simply being near you.
Gaia has been wonderful with kids as young as 7 years old. Her sweet, gentle personality shone through, and she handled affection patiently and softly. She seemed content just being included and loved on, and her interactions felt calm and easygoing.
With other dogs, Gaia has been very soft, respectful, and easygoing. She is dog-friendly and could live peacefully with another dog, but she's more of a peaceful coexistence type than a playmate. She's not looking for constant wrestling or chaos and seems happiest simply existing alongside other dogs while focusing her attention on her people. She would likely do best with another calm, respectful dog that matches her easygoing nature.
She also met our house cat, Biggie, respectfully. Gaia did not chase Biggie, nor was she bothered by him. Biggie also seemed comfortable around her. We do not know if she has lived with a cat before, but we can arrange for a sleepover with a cat upon request.
Gaia is crate trained, has wonderful house manners, walks beautifully on leash, and is the perfect dog for a mellow stroll. She has medium-to-low energy and doesn't ask for much: a comfy couch, soft voices, love, a few walks, and quality time with her people. She has the potential to do well in an apartment or a home with a backyard as she is an adaptable companion.
Gaia bonds deeply with her people and adores them very much, especially men. Because she loves her humans so deeply, she may quietly wait near doors or gates when her people leave, hoping they'll return soon. This is not unmanageable; she just forms meaningful attachments and wants to be close to those she loves. Gaia is a comfort and warmth, the dog that quietly rests her head beside you on hard days and makes things feel a little lighter.
Ideal Home
Gaia would thrive in a home that offers peace and quiet affection. She enjoys being included in family activities and would do well with a family who enjoys calm companionship. She can be a bit shy initially with new people but warms up quickly with gentle reassurance. She seems to enjoy living with other calm, respectful dogs and is respectful of cats.
