Hi, I’m Nicot! I’m a 2-year-old black and tan Shepherd mix with a heart full of potential, just waiting for the right person to help me bloom. I’m a bit of a unique soul, what some might call “borderline feral.” I get scared easily and don’t warm up to strangers quickly, but my confidence soars when I have a canine companion by my side. My foster siblings, Mimi, Fiona, Loki, and Lexi, are my safe haven, and I thrive in their presence. I also get along well with cats!
I was found as a stray when I was about six months old, underweight and scared. While I’m much healthier now, those early experiences left a lasting impression. I’m happiest in familiar surroundings, and new places can be overwhelming. Because I’m a flight risk, a securely fenced yard and understanding of containment and decompression are essential. I’m a good boy when it comes to crating at night, and with gentle patience, I’ll even take treats from your hand. I’m not your average pet; I’m a working-minded dog who needs a job and mental stimulation to prevent destructive behaviors.
Ideal Home
A home that understands shy, fearful dogs and can provide a stable, confident canine friend to help guide me. Older, dog-savvy teens might be okay, but I cannot live with small children due to my tendency to scare easily.
Ongoing Health
I’m neutered, vaccinated, and heartworm negative.
Training & Support
I’m not comfortable on a leash and need guidance on containment and slow introductions. I require consistent structure and mental engagement, as walks alone won't be enough to prevent destructive behaviors.
