Meet Dani!
Dani is a soulful and resilient four-year-old American Pitbull Terrier/Labrador Retriever mix with a sleek black coat and bright white accents. Weighing in at 52 pounds, this medium-sized girl has a quiet strength and an even bigger heart. Dani's journey began on the streets of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where she faced significant medical challenges as a pup. Thanks to dedicated care, she's now healthy and has blossomed into a deeply affectionate and loyal companion. You might notice small scars on her paws, gentle reminders of her past, but her spirit is full of warmth.
Dani is an exceptionally loving companion with her people. She's a bed sleeper who loves to curl up close, sometimes even purring when content. She forms deep emotional bonds and enjoys staying near her humans, following them from room to room. Dani is incredibly intuitive and offers comfort with soft licks when she senses sadness. She loves tugging on ropes, enjoys peaceful walks, and knows commands like sit, stay, wait, and come. She thrives with structure and clear guidance from her experienced, confident adopter. Dani is house-trained, spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. She's respectful in the home and doesn't engage in destructive chewing.
Ideal Home
Dani needs to be the only pet in her home due to pronounced fear-based reactivity toward other dogs. She can be wary of new situations and some new men, but with thoughtful, safe introductions, she generally warms up and may even engage in play before settling down. Unexpected visitors or service calls might prompt barking, so an experienced adopter who can manage introductions and provide a calm, caring environment is ideal. A fenced yard in a quieter setting would be a great bonus. Dani would be a wonderful companion for someone who works from home, as she'll happily keep you company. She is not a beginner's dog, but for the right family, she is a remarkable companion who needs a steady hand and a tender heart.
Ongoing Health
Dani has fully recovered from her early medical challenges and shows no ongoing health concerns.
Training & Support
Dani has been extensively trained by a humane trainer using positive reinforcement and thrives with routine and clear guidance. She is house-trained and respectful in the home. Due to her reactivity, she requires an experienced adopter who can manage her interactions with other dogs and new people.
