Leia

Leia, named after the iconic Princess Leia, is a sweet, independent, and playful young adult Shepherd mix who has been patiently waiting for her forever home for three years. Weighing around 80lbs with a soft, medium-length coat, she's ready to bring her unique charm into your life. Leia was just a puppy when she arrived, and now she's blossomed into a beautiful young dog who enjoys playtime with other dogs and needs a home with a good-sized yard. She's done well with most dogs, big and small, and is good with children aged 10 and up. While she's generally good-natured, she can be a bit mouthy, as is common with Shepherd breeds, so supervision with younger children is advised. Leia hasn't been exposed to cats yet, but her prey drive is evident as she enjoys chasing birds and squirrels. She's genuinely desperate for a loving home!

Ideal Home

Leia would thrive in a home with other dogs for companionship and would do well with a moderately active family. She enjoys her naps and prefers to be near her people without being overly demanding of attention, liking to nap and rest independently nearby. She is not a fan of water or baths, though she does enjoy the rain.

Training & Support

Leia is still learning leash manners and will require continued training in her new home. She is potty trained to an open sliding door in her current foster home. As she is a big breed, continued training and socialization are very important and will need to be a priority for her new owner. Potential adopters should be aware that all dogs require continued potty training in a new environment, and homes should be "young dog-proofed" and prepared before adoption.
