Malouk

Meet Malouk! This distinguished 12-year-old, 85 lb German Shepherd possesses a gentle soul, a loving heart, and an abundance of quiet companionship to offer his future family. Malouk joined us after his person sadly passed away. For a year, he wasn't receiving the care he deserved, leading to his surrender so he could have a chance at the safe, loving life he truly deserves. Now, he's ready to find a forever home where he can be cherished and adored.

This sweet senior is blind, but that doesn't slow him down! He navigates the world with remarkable resilience and still finds joy in his favorite pastimes: leisurely walks, peaceful naps, and of course, treats (lots of treats!). Occasionally, he even reveals a playful spark.

Ideal Home

Malouk thrives in a calm, low-key environment where he feels safe and settled. He would be perfectly content as the sole pet, but he also gets along well with calm, respectful dogs and even cats who understand he can be easily startled due to his blindness. He is incredibly friendly with people and has a soft spot for children, making him a wonderful, gentle presence for the right family.

Ongoing Health

Malouk can experience some anxiety due to his blindness, but he manages very well with calming medication and a consistent routine. He finds comfort in his crate and does best when crated while left alone.

Training & Support

Malouk is potty trained, though he may mark indoors (he was recently neutered), and belly bands have proven to be a simple and effective solution. He will also need continued leash training, as he can pull, especially when excited or uncertain.
