Phoenix’s journey since she came to us has shown all of us how resilient and strong her spirit is. She lives with a neurological condition called Cerebellar Hypoplasia and spent her first 2 months with us recovering from neglect of the worst kind and days away from the unimaginable. But luckily, we have some pretty amazing vet teams and fosters on our side, that help dogs like her thrive. Phoenix has been given the all-clear from the vets and is now ready to find a REAL forever home! One that will continue to show her nothing but patience and love for not only her ‘special’ physical needs, but the love and reassurance she’ll need to know she’ll never be deprived of anything ever again. Phoenix is a middle-aged gal, coming in at 6 years old and a Russell Parsons mix. She’s pretty little, but makes up for it with her BIG personality!
Ideal Home
Phoenix needs a home that will continue to show her patience and love, not only for her special physical needs but also for the reassurance she’ll need to know she’ll never be deprived of anything ever again. She will need a fenced yard for her safety. Cats and feathered livestock are a no.
Ongoing Health
Phoenix has Cerebellar Hypoplasia, a neurological condition that affects her coordination, balance, and fine motor skills, but not her quality of life. She may need some basic accommodations, like rugs so she feels confident about walking around and help with steps.
Training & Support
Phoenix can be a bit wobbly on her feet when she first stands up or on slick surfaces, but once she’s up, she is off like a rocket! She has done well with most of the other dogs she lives with in foster care, but she will need proper introductions and consistency with building trust. Her foster mom is a behaviorist, so Phoenix will come with a lifelong friend for support to help guide her future family through some of her quirks that are linked to some of her anxieties.
