Meet Gouden Bouviers. I fell in love with the Bouvier des Flandres breed when I first saw a pair in 1999. After losing my Standard Poodle several years later I began researching the breed to ensure it was a good fit for my lifestyle. I wanted to low shedding, hypoallergenic, large breed dog and a must, was intelligent. I acquired my first Bouvier, Belle, in 2007. Unfortunately, at ~ 6 months old I found out she had severe hip dysplasia. Although I had wanted a dog to show in conformation and the breeder offered to replace her with another puppy, I was already attached. She was part of my family! Over the next 10+ years I educated myself on the breeds hereditary health issues and those found in certain lines learning some breeders are more concerned with “appearance” than health. I fell in love with the fawn Bouvs after seeing Lisa Waldron’s Chyna on Facebook in 2018 and decided I wanted my next Bouv to be a fawn. After waiting for over a year for her I acquired my fawn/black mask girl, Porsche, Chyna’s “sister” from a subsequent litter in 2019. For whatever reason, possibly COVID isolation and me working at home, she HATED conformation…you could tell she just didn’t want to be in the ring. She did LOVE FastCat and has her FCat title. I decided to breed Porsche in 2021 and with the guidance of several awesome mentors she had her first litter in December 2021. I kept her son, Leo (Gouden’s Lion Lord Light), that is currently being shown in AKC conformation. My goal is to be a serious hobby breeder providing healthy puppies that are outstanding examples of the breed to primarily pet homes. Since I currently work from home I intend to have no more than 1 litter a year. My puppies are hand raised in my home receiving constant care and attention until they are place in their forever homes.
