Walter in FL

Walter is a sweet, 13-year-old black and tan boy with a smooth coat, weighing in at 18.35 lbs. He came to us as a stray and is now looking for his final, loving forever home. Walter is mostly deaf, but he's still a master at following his people around, making it his daily mission. Because he's hard of hearing, he's a sound sleeper, so he wouldn't be the best watchdog, but he's guaranteed to be a devoted companion. He's housetrained, crate trained, and walks nicely on a leash, though he mostly just enjoys following along. Walter deserves a comfortable retirement where he can lay his head on a soft pillow.

Ideal Home

Walter needs a home with a fenced yard. He would do best with someone who is retired or home often, as he enjoys company. He'd also love to have another senior dog to pal around with. He is not suited for homes with young children or playful, young dogs. He also prefers not to live with cats. We do not recommend Dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime, as they can be impatient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a Dachshund's back or get bitten.

Ongoing Health

Walter is up-to-date on his vaccinations and was neutered on 06/11/26. He receives monthly heartworm preventative, due in the 10th of each month.

Training & Support

Walter is housetrained, crate trained, and leash trained. He is mostly deaf, which means he's a sound sleeper.

Walter is located in Floral City, FL. We have volunteers who can help transport dogs up and down the East Coast and into the Midwest.
