Maple Bacon is a 2-year-old, 70 lb St. Bernard mix with a heart as big as her paws. She's a confident, affectionate girl who is all about adventure - say the word "car" and she'll do happy feet until it's time to go! Maple has been settling in with her foster beautifully. She loves people, enjoys cuddles, and has a fun playful side - especially when she gets the big-dog zoomies. She knows "sit" and "shake," and she's been doing great with routines and structure. Maple Bacon is truly a wonderful dog - loyal, fun, and full of personality - and she's going to make an amazing best friend for the right home.
Ideal Home
Maple would do best in a home that understands St. Bernard mixes and their needs. She is dog-friendly and prefers to interact with laid-back dogs, needing respectful introductions. She is fine co-existing with other dogs after a proper transition period and does not enjoy dog parks or that kind of playful chaos. Maple has done well with a 4-year-old once she got used to the noise and silly antics and is calm and relaxed around little person chaos after settling in. She needs work/management with cats, as she has started to stalk the resident cat but redirects well. She should not be left unsupervised around cats at this time unless her family is willing to continue to provide boundaries.
Ongoing Health
Maple Bacon may exhibit mild resource guarding of her empty food bowl or shared water bowl from other pets (not people). This has been manageable with supervision and simple routines. Her adoption fee covers her spay, vaccinations, and microchip.
Training & Support
Maple knows "sit" and "shake" and has been doing great with routines and structure. She needs continued work and management around cats and to ensure she does not stalk them, as well as ongoing supervision and simple routines to manage mild resource guarding.
