Meet Cashew! This handsome 3-year-old, neutered male Australian Shepherd is looking for his true forever home or a committed training foster to help him shine. Cashew was sadly returned this year through no fault of his own, but he's ready to find his perfect match. He's a devoted companion who loves nothing more than being with his people. He's quiet and well-mannered in the house, perfectly content lounging nearby while you go about your day. Cashew is your classic Aussie — loving, rambunctious, opinionated, and a total silly nut. Outside, he's high-energy and loves to run and wrestle in a fenced yard. Inside, he settles beautifully and is happy to curl up next to you on the couch. He's a velcro cuddle bug, food motivated, smart, athletic, and playful. Cashew is also great in the car and not bothered by thunderstorms.
Ideal Home
Cashew needs a home with a secure fenced yard and no children or small pets. He would do best with an experienced Australian Shepherd or herding breed owner who is committed to continued training. He would be happy as an only dog or with a balanced, mellow larger female dog. A comfy couch for cuddles is a must!
Ongoing Health
Cashew is a healthy boy who has been neutered.
Training & Support
Cashew is dog-reactive and dog-aggressive on walks, which is a training issue. He needs an experienced owner committed to continued positive reinforcement training, and he does best in a front-lead harness or gentle leader. He also has a high prey drive and needs monitoring in high-activity situations. He is reactive to trucks and should not be in a home with small dogs, cats, or children. With structure, consistency, and experienced handling, Cashew has so much potential.
