If you've ever wished your favorite stuffed animal could magically come to life, then Ernie is the dog for you! This ridiculously handsome chocolate Lab/Staffy mix is a big, strong hunk of a dog with the sweetest, squishiest personality. He has a happy pittie smile, soulful amber eyes, adorable forehead wrinkles, and enough personality to keep you smiling every single day.

Ernie is a definition of a good boy. He is fully potty trained, crate trained, walks wonderfully on leash, knows "sit," and has fantastic house manners. He has been living with two other large dogs in his foster home and has been absolutely amazing with them. Ernie is the kind of dog that makes you wonder how he's still waiting for a family.

Ernie's absolute favorite thing in the world is his people. He loves to be wherever his favorite humans are, whether it's sitting beside you or enjoying the weather on the patio. He doesn't need to be the center of attention; he just wants to be included.

Ernie's greatest talent is the "sploot." He has elevated splooting into an art form, whether he's walking across the yard, playing outside, or just deciding what to do next. He feels called to sploot, and we respect his commitment! When he's not perfecting his signature move, he's often found carrying around one of his beloved giant stuffed toys like a priceless treasure.

He's also a social butterfly with other dogs and loves to play chase. He's playful without being over-the-top and has done beautifully sharing his foster home with two other big dogs. When the zoomies are over, he's instantly in cuddle mode, happy to curl up beside you for a quiet evening. He's truly the best of both worlds: a fun adventure buddy and a calm, snuggly companion. Ernie was also wonderful with children, showing how gentle he is.

The only thing Ernie doesn't want to share his life with is cats, as they're a little too exciting for him. He would do best in a cat-free home.

Ernie is one of those rare dogs who seems to have it all: handsome, hilarious, affectionate, well-mannered, dog-friendly, easy to live with, and overflowing with love. He's entertaining without being chaotic, playful without being overwhelming, and cuddly enough to make every day a little bit better. Ernie is located in the Houston, Texas area. We facilitate adoptions nationwide using our rescue's USDA-certified transport system, ensuring safe and comfortable travel for every pet with 24/7 care. Drop-off locations include WA, UT, OR, ID, VA, PA, OH, NY, CT, VT, TN, KY, WI, MN, IL, and Canada (pick up in Bellingham, WA, Buffalo, NY, or Brattleboro, VT for Canadian adopters). You will have the opportunity to track their journey in real time, see photo updates, and connect with fellow adopters and fosters through our private Facebook event page. Texas adopters must pick up from the Houston area.
