Susie is a regal lady who embodies kindness. She came to us from a local shelter with a high euthanasia rate, and sadly, her friend could not be saved. Susie is approximately 4-5 years old and has clearly endured hardships. She is very thin and tested heartworm positive; however, she will be treated, and her weight will gradually increase. She currently weighs about 60 lbs and needs to gain an additional 10 lbs. Her breed is unknown, but she appears to be a mix, possibly with Great Pyrenees. Susie is incredibly gentle and has been excellent with other dogs, showing a non-confrontational nature. While friendly with everyone, she needs to gain confidence, as her past experiences suggest she hasn't always been treated kindly. She is a fast learner and quickly forms strong bonds with those who are kind to her, seeming to crave companionship. Susie will be participating in the Paws in Prison program for 8 weeks, starting June 22nd, to further refine her manners and build her confidence. We are hoping to find a loving home for her by the time she graduates.

Ongoing Health
Susie is heartworm positive and will be treated for this. She is spayed, up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccines, microchipped, and on flea/tick and heartworm prevention.
Training & Support
Susie already possesses great manners and will be learning basic commands and building confidence through the Paws in Prison program.

Transporation
Susie is located in Arkansas and is available to adopters in Arkansas and the New England area. Transport is available to New England adopters, with pick-up required in PA, NJ, or CT on Saturdays.
