Meet Penny! This sweet 2-year-old Shepherd/Husky mix is a 62-pound bundle of affection and adventure, ready to shower her forever family with love. Penny is a curious, social, and outgoing girl who thrives on activity and close companionship. She adores her humans and is always looking for her next great escapade or a cozy cuddle session.
Ideal Home
Penny would do best in a home with confident, medium-to-large dogs who can match her playful energy and help her learn good play manners. She has shown prey-driven behavior towards cats outdoors, so a cat-free home is recommended. Due to her exuberance and herding instincts, Penny would be happiest with older teens or adults who understand dog behavior and can provide her with structure and positive outlets for her energy. Her ideal home will offer patience, understanding, and calm, consistent care, as Penny can flinch easily and needs reassurance.
Ongoing Health
Penny is spayed and up-to-date on vaccinations.
Training & Support
Penny is fully house-trained and has been practicing with confinement when left alone, though she is still learning to be fully comfortable with separation. She has not yet been crate trained and prefers to be near her people, sometimes whining or barking when separated, which stems from her deep bond with them. She can be trusted loose in the house if belongings and food are put away. Penny has a soft spot for chewing on dog beds when bored, so keeping her toys and beds out of reach is advised. She is learning to manage her protectiveness over her space and high-value items like food or toys around other dogs, and her foster is working with her on clear boundaries and respectful management. Consistent mental and physical exercise, such as walks, hikes, or sniffy adventures, will help Penny thrive.
