Meet Toby, a 6-month-old, 26-pound Carolina-Corgi mix pup with a heart as big as his adorable ears. Toby's story began with heartbreak; he was abandoned at a high-kill shelter with his mom. While his mom was quickly adopted, Toby was left behind, scared and alone. Thankfully, a loving foster stepped in and gave him the chance he deserved.
When Toby first arrived in foster care, he was terrified of the outside world, but he found comfort in his foster sisters. By watching them, he slowly began to follow their lead. Today, Toby happily goes outside on leash, loves playing with his foster sisters, and enjoys sunbathing. Toby is shy when meeting new people and needs time to decompress in new environments. Once he feels safe, he blossoms into a loyal companion who is calm, gentle, sweet, and non-confrontational. He lives with six dogs and one cat and gets along beautifully with all of them. He thrives in the company of other pets and looks to them for reassurance. Toby is a smart puppy and a quick learner. He is fine around children, but would do best in a quieter home without young kids. A patient, kind, and understanding family will be rewarded with unwavering loyalty.
Ideal Home
Toby thrives in a home with at least one happy, confident, playful dog to provide him with reassurance and help him build confidence. A quiet home without young children is preferred. The yard MUST be adequately and fully fenced; electric or underground fences are not accepted.
Ongoing Health
Toby is fully vaccinated with 3 rounds of shots, neutered, and heartworm negative. He is kept on heartworm and flea preventatives.
Training & Support
Toby is currently puppy pad trained. While he is still working through his fear of loud noises and the outside world, he learns quickly by observing other dogs. With a patient family and a confident canine companion, he is expected to transition to outdoor potty training easily.
