Scrabble is an adorable and good-natured puppy, born on February 3, 2026. He and his brother, Squiggle, came to us from a sad backyard breeding situation and were initially scared and unsure of life skills. However, in foster care, both boys have blossomed and adapted wonderfully, embracing the kindness and compassion they've received. Scrabble is a pup who always wants to be near his person, is vocal when he's hungry, and loves to cuddle. He has quickly mastered jumping on the couch to be close to his foster parent and will alert you to any unfamiliar noises. Both puppies are doing exceptionally well with potty training and have not had any accidents in their foster home. They are content to sleep together in the kitchen and wake around 6 am for their morning potty break and breakfast. They enjoy playtime, watching TV, and are very still and accepting during grooming. Scrabble weighs 11 pounds currently and is presumed to grow into the 20-pound range.
Ideal Home
Scrabble is a baby and will need someone who is home most of the time to help him learn and grow into a well-mannered adult dog. He is in foster care with his brother and two resident dogs without issue. Though not cat or kid-tested, his gentle nature suggests he would likely be friendly with them.
Ongoing Health
Scrabble will receive two more rounds of vaccines, including rabies, and his neuter will be completed in September at our veterinarian in Unionville, all at Mattie's Place's cost. This is non-negotiable, and you must be able to drive him to his veterinary appointments. We recommend investing in pet insurance for Scrabble. He will come home with 30 days of free pet insurance on adoption day. Scrabble will require professional grooming every couple of months, which costs approximately $100-$150 per session. Mattie's Place does not deem any dog hypoallergenic.
Training & Support
Scrabble is vocal when he wants to eat and will let you know about unfamiliar noises. He has mastered jumping on the couch and is very accepting during grooming. He and his brother are excellent with potty training and come immediately when called.

- The adoption fee of $875 includes spay/neuter, deworming, flea/tick prevention, vaccinations, dentals if needed or any added surgical care, food, a nose-to-tail health exam, toys, leash/collar, a winter coat (seasonal), poop bags, dishes, and 30 days of Trupanion pet insurance with immediate coverage for any illness or injury not pre-existing.
- Adopters must be able to drive Scrabble to his veterinary appointments for his neuter and any follow-up care.
