Sansa is a delightful 10-month-old Chihuahua-Cocker Spaniel mix, weighing in at about 10 lbs. She’s a loving, happy, and playful pup who was surrendered to our shelter when her family could no longer care for her. Despite the change, Sansa remains a sweetheart, eager to start her next chapter with a forever family. She’s already crate trained and does her business reliably in the yard. Sansa gets along wonderfully with cats, other dogs, and people of all ages. She might bark at strangers initially, but it’s just her way of being alert and protective. With a little gentle reassurance, she quickly warms up and shows her affectionate and playful nature. Sansa would thrive in a home that offers loving guidance and consistency, helping her build confidence and feel secure.
Ideal Home
Sansa would do best in a home with a fenced backyard and an active family that enjoys outdoor activities. She needs a family with a genuine intention to rescue a dog, understanding the needs and potential behaviors of rescued animals. Experience with dog behavior and training is preferred, or a willingness to hire a trainer. A high tolerance for patience is essential for this intelligent pup.
Ongoing Health
Sansa has undergone a comprehensive health protocol including spay/neuter, DHPPI and Rabies vaccinations, Bordetella, deworming, and microchipping. She has tested negative for 4DX and heartworm, and is on monthly Nexgard Spectra preventive. She has a health certificate and vaccine booklet. Please note that rescued dogs may require an adjustment period due to past experiences, and patience is crucial.
Training & Support
Sansa is not house-trained. It is important to understand that our rescued pets often require significant patience and understanding as they adjust to a new environment and may have fears or anxieties from past experiences. Providing a safe, loving environment, establishing a routine, and offering clear boundaries will help Sansa feel secure and build trust.

- If it's a potential match, we will schedule a call or video chat to introduce you to Sansa and conduct a virtual home tour.
- We will speak with 1-2 of your references.
- Upon approval, you will sign the adoption contract and pay the adoption fee, which covers vet care, spay/neuter, vaccines, microchip, and food.
Transportation
Sansa is currently being fostered in Matamoros, Mexico, and is available for transport to the East Coast. We organize 3-4 trips per year with our partnered transport company, which includes door-to-door delivery. There is a one-time transport fee of $400 USD to cover the journey from Mexico to your home. You will receive real-time updates during the journey in a private Facebook Messenger group.
