Meet Stella!

This lovely 4-year-old, 40-pound Chow Chow is a true testament to resilience. Stella has faced significant hardship, yet she continues to approach every encounter with quiet kindness and a gentle heart. Her journey to our rescue was marked by the challenge of a severely damaged eye, which caused her constant pain. To bring her relief, her eye was surgically removed. Despite this ordeal, Stella's sweet spirit has remained intact. She has graciously accepted the care and love offered to her and is healing wonderfully. Now, with her pain gone, she's ready to truly experience life.

Stella can be a bit shy when first meeting new people, but she quickly blossoms once she feels safe and comfortable. She absolutely adores being petted and brushed, soaking up every bit of affection. She's a well-mannered lady with excellent potty habits, suggesting she'll transition smoothly into a home environment. Stella walks nicely on a leash, travels quietly in the car, and charmed the veterinary staff with her sweet and easy demeanor. She has shown no negative reactions to male dogs during passing encounters, but she doesn't seem to enjoy the company of female dogs. She also appears to have no prey drive, happily ignoring outdoor cats and squirrels. Toys are still a novelty for Stella, making us wonder if she's ever had the simple joy of just being a dog. Now that she's recovered from surgery and her protective cone is off, we're excited for her to discover the fun of playing and living the carefree life she deserves. We are awaiting her biopsy results, but her resilience is already clear. Stella is seeking a family who will look past her missing eye and see the beautiful, loving soul within.
