I'm Pudgy, a handsome and affectionate terrier mix who has overcome quite a bit to find my forever home! I came to the Humane Society of York County as a stray with a fractured hip that required surgery. I've been healing wonderfully in a loving foster home and am now ready to meet my perfect family. I'm a youngster, born around June 2025, and weigh about 45 pounds. I'm a graduate of basic obedience classes, acing skills like sit, down, wait, and heel. I'm also a pro at car rides and leash walking! I'm a social butterfly with both humans and other dogs, and I love joining my people on outings. My favorite place to be is right by your side, whether we're out and about or just lounging at home. I especially love finding a cozy sunbeam for a nap! I'm a loving and lovable boy who will make a fabulous companion.
Ideal Home
Pudgy would do best in a home without small children. A securely fenced yard is a must, and he would love to have another dog (preferably bigger) to play with who enjoys running and wrestling. He may be able to coexist with a confident cat after a slow introduction.
Ongoing Health
Pudgy underwent surgery for a fractured hip and has made a full recovery.
Training & Support
Pudgy has completed basic obedience training and knows several commands. He is still working on redirecting his excitement when seeing bikes, scooters, or other dogs on walks, and has a tendency to chase squirrels. He also needs continued work on leaving tempting items like plastic, paper, shoes, and socks alone. He is still learning to be comfortable with new people and may be a little scared initially, but treats can help him warm up. Loud noises can frighten him, and he'll need reassurance. He is house-trained and has a signal for needing to go outside.
