Addie is a beautiful, friendly Great Pyrenees who absolutely adores human attention. She's been waiting patiently for her forever home for two years after a difficult start. While she's a sweetheart, Addie would do best as the only dog in the household, as she can be a bit selective with other dogs in her territory. She is, however, perfectly fine with cats and is likely to be a wonderful companion for children over 10 due to her friendly nature. Addie is incredibly smart – she knows how to open doorknobs and doesn't enjoy being crated, often finding a way to escape. She'd be a fantastic companion for someone who loves to bring their dog along for every adventure.
Ideal Home
Addie would thrive in a home where she can be your constant companion. A securely fenced yard, directly accessible from the house, is a must. Invisible fencing is not suitable for this breed, as they are known to prioritize freedom over any shock. Great Pyrenees are bred to roam, and without proper containment, they can wander, putting themselves at risk of getting lost, hit by a car, or perceived as a threat. Therefore, Addie cannot be trusted off-leash. Applicants must be over 25, own their own home, and any children in the household must be over 6 years old.
Ongoing Health
No specific health conditions were mentioned, but as with any newly adopted Great Pyrenees, obedience training is recommended to foster a strong bond and ensure good behavior.
Training & Support
Addie is a smart dog who can figure out how to open doorknobs. Someone willing to work on building a relationship with her should help diminish her desire to wander. Great Pyrenees are independent thinkers and while willing to learn, may not be as eager to comply with commands as some other breeds.
