About Rex

Rex is a joyful, playful, and energetic Cattle Dog Mix, approximately 3 years old and weighing around 35 lbs. He was rescued as a puppy in May 2023 and has spent his time waiting in a shelter for his forever family. Rex is a sweet boy who enjoys being near his people without being overly clingy. He has a fun personality, loves to play, and is always up for an adventure! He's also very social and gets along wonderfully with other dogs, cats, and people. Rex is intelligent and eager to learn, walks well on a leash, and is crate trained. His mom was rescued from the streets and gave birth to him and his siblings. Rex is the last puppy from his litter still waiting for his home. He needs a family that can offer him structure, patience, love, and the active lifestyle he thrives on.

Ideal Home

A home with a fenced backyard
An active family that enjoys daily walks or hiking
Families with an open mind about the needs of rescued animals, understanding they may require protection and education.
Experience in dog behavior and training is preferred.
High tolerance and patience for rescued animals.

Ongoing Health

Rex comes with a comprehensive health protocol including a Spay/Neuter Certificate, DHPPI and Rabies vaccinations, Bordetella vaccination, deworming, a negative 4DX Test and Heartworm test, and a Health Certificate with a vaccination booklet. He is also microchipped and on monthly preventive protection for fleas, ticks, and heartworm (Nexgard Spectra).

Training & Support

Rex is not house-trained. The rescue team understands that extensive house-training can be challenging for shelter environments and are looking for adopters who can provide this support.

Transporation

Rex is currently being fostered in Saltillo, Mexico, and is ready to travel to the East Coast as part of a cross-country trip. Transport fees of $400.00 are the responsibility of the adopter and are to be paid prior to the pet's departure. This service is provided by a transport company and delivers to the adopter's home address.
