Meet Chuckie! This handsome 1-year-old German Shepherd is looking for his forever home. Chuckie was unfortunately surrendered because his previous owner wasn't prepared for the realities of this intelligent, energetic breed. He came to us displaying typical puppy behavior that stemmed from a lack of proper exercise and mental enrichment.
Chuckie is a strong boy on leash and shows curiosity towards other dogs during walks. His former owner described him as "getting aggressive" with other dogs, but in reality, he was just excited and frustrated by not having enough to do. He has never attacked or bitten anyone. During our dog meets, Chuckie did well and showed little interest after the initial greeting, indicating his behavior is driven by excitement and frustration, not true aggression.
He's a sensitive soul who has faced instability and uncertainty. Chuckie is already crate trained, house trained, and absolutely loves toys! He's a high-energy, active dog who, with understanding and commitment, has the potential to be a truly fantastic companion. Our volunteers are diligently working with him on structure, routine, and building his confidence.
Ideal Home
Chuckie would thrive in a home with experienced German Shepherd owners who understand the breed's need for plenty of physical activity, mental stimulation, and clear, consistent guidance. He will need to meet any resident dogs. At this time, he will not be placed in a home with children.
Ongoing Health
Chuckie will come to you neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and 4DX tested.
Training & Support
Chuckie is working on building his confidence and needs a home that can continue to provide structure and routine. His past lack of stimulation led to frustration, so continuing with mental enrichment and exercise will be key to his success.
