Penney - LOCAL in CT

Hi there! I'm Penney, a 2-year-old female mix of Australian Cattle Dog, Australian Shepherd, and Beagle, weighing in at 42lbs. I came to PAWS New England from Louisiana in February 2024. While my movements aren't always smooth, don't let that fool you – I'm a happy and energetic girl! My unique way of moving is thought to be cerebellar hypoplasia, but it doesn't stop me from walking, running, or playing. I love people and warm up quickly, and I'm also crate and house-trained. I enjoy toys, walks, and even dabbled in scent work! I’m spayed, up-to-date on vaccinations, heartworm negative, and microchipped.

Ideal Home

I would thrive in a home with a fenced yard where I can safely zoom around. I get along wonderfully with other dogs and would love to have canine companions. I'm also happy to be your one and only furry friend because I adore people. However, due to my coordination, I cannot live with cats. Stairs are also off-limits for me, and I may not do well in an apartment setting. I do need a little time to warm up to new people, but once I do, I’m all yours!

Ongoing Health

My unique movements are believed to be due to cerebellar hypoplasia. This condition has been stable for the past two years and is not expected to worsen.

Training & Support

I'm already crate and house-trained! I do need to be corrected on not touching food left out, but I learned quickly after being told once. I also need guidance on navigating my balance, especially around stairs.
