Abel-boxer

This sweet, just-turned-8-year-old Boxer mix is ready to bring a whole lot of love and playful energy into your life! Abel is a devoted companion who thrives on attention and enjoys being part of the family. He's a bit of a snuggle monster and a happy hog, and he's not afraid to let you know when he feels he's not getting enough adoration! Abel has a proven track record of getting along well with other dogs, both big and small, and he's curious and gentle around cats, even if they're not always sure what to make of him. He also has experience with children of all ages and has been wonderful with them. Abel walks beautifully on a leash and is house-trained, but he does have a tendency to wander if not supervised, so he'll need a family committed to working on his recall. He’s also smart but can be a little stubborn, a common trait for his breed. Abel is used to sleeping in bed with his owner and being allowed on furniture, so he'd likely prefer a home where he can continue to be a close part of the family.

Ideal Home

A home where Abel can receive plenty of attention and be included in family activities. He is comfortable with children and other pets. A securely fenced yard would be ideal for his safety and training.

Ongoing Health

Abel received a clean bill of health from the vet and is up-to-date on his vaccinations and has had a heartworm/Lyme test. He is neutered.

Training & Support

Abel needs consistent training to improve his recall, as he tends to wander and not come back when called. His family should be prepared for his smart but sometimes stubborn Boxer nature and continue positive reinforcement training. He is used to sleeping on furniture and in bed with his owner, so this is expected in his new home.
