About Rex

Meet Rex, a sweet senior Labrador Retriever who is ready to enjoy his retirement! Though he's 7 years young, Rex prefers a leisurely pace in life. He loves spending time outdoors on pleasant days, enjoying the sunshine without it being too hot or too cold.

Rex has a unique way of enjoying his time outside! He loves to playfully chase bumblebees, not out of malice, but simply to make new friends. When he's not bee-watching, Rex is busy with his Nylabone. He'll carry it around, search for the perfect spot to bury it, and then, being a master of secrets, move it an hour later to ensure its safety from prying eyes, especially those of squirrels he's dedicated to keeping out of your yard!

While Rex isn't the biggest fan of constant cuddling, he's happy to accept pets and enjoys sleeping in bed with you for cozy moments. He prefers not to be a "Velcro" dog, sticking to you all the time. When he's not napping, Rex likes to relax by the window and watch the world go by. Despite his love for downtime, he's also up for an adventure, whether it's a neighborhood walk or a trip to the forest preserve!

Ideal Home

Rex may not be the best housemate for cats. He can coexist peacefully with another calm, well-mannered dog. He's not interested in the boisterous play of puppies or younger adult dogs, though he might offer a play bow. Rex can be a bit socially awkward and prefers if another dog approaches him for introductions first.

Ongoing Health

Rex is up-to-date on all core vaccines, microchipped, and heartworm tested. He is also current on heartworm, flea, and tick preventatives.

Training & Support

Rex knows several cues, including Sit, Stay, Come, Touch, "Let's Go!", and "Find it."
