About Madysen

Madysen is a sweet 4-year-old, spayed female Lab/Terrier mix with a lot of love to give! She was found as a stray down South and transferred to us from an overcrowded shelter. While we don't know much about her past, we do know she's a big puppy in a dog's body, full of energy and playfulness. She's looking for a patient and understanding adopter who can help her learn and grow.

Ideal Home

Madysen would thrive in an active home with a securely fenced yard where she can safely run and play. Because of her boisterous play style and tendency to get mouthy, an adult-only home with no children is required. She would also do well with a male dog of similar size and energy level, but she's not a good fit for small or senior dogs. We have no information about her reaction to cats, so a cat-free home or one prepared for slow introductions is necessary. Someone who is home more often than not would be ideal.

Ongoing Health

Madysen has been diagnosed with minor cherry eye. An eye specialist recommended leaving it as is, as surgery could potentially cause more problems. She is currently receiving over-the-counter eye drops as needed for redness or allergies. She is spayed, up to date on vaccines, tested negative for heartworm, and is on monthly prevention. It is critical that she remains on year-round heartworm prevention and receives heartworm testing every 6 months for the first year, and annually thereafter.

Training & Support

Madysen needs an adopter committed to providing plenty of daily exercise, such as running, hiking, or playing in a fenced yard. Positive reinforcement obedience training is also a must to help her learn manners and manage her strength and size.
